I mean I’ve wanted to change anyway since the enshittification started. I think the first thing was a paid avatar/profile decoration store. Annoying enough, but if they’re decent cosmetics and not crazy prices I can understand. I still wish there was an internal, native seeing that would just remove all the visual teasing of paid options, but I can ignore it. (Mainly I hate trying to add an emoji to chat and just seeing pages of emoji from servers that I can’t use on the one I’m on- which is already super annoying, but they put the regular result ones behind all those so you have to either scroll past them or manually switch to the default emoji page- that’s just pure rage bait- default should be first, followed by the ones from that server that you can actually use)

But my main problem was when Nitro showed up.

Unfortunately, of the up and comers none are quite ready yet, and none have the full suite of functionality.

This change actually doesn’t affect me at all, I don’t really engage with any communities. I have one that I use just to mess with admin options and see what kinda choices there are and how it works, one server with a few friends (like 5 regulars counting myself) and one for some of my siblings that we only really use to play Jackbox remotely.

But I still resent the change and have wanted a good alternative ever since subscriptions started.

My last phone I got immediately after the preceding years model. I wanted the experience of staying up to date just once in my life.

But before that? I’ve only had 9 phones total, and the first 3 weren’t even smartphones. So in 23-24 years I’ve had 9.

So I average a little less than your 5 years, but I did hit 5 once between Pixel 2 and 7.

I immediately jumped to 8, and it’s already 3 now, but other than some battery degradation it runs like new still. That’s the main reason I left the 2 finally. Charges would last like 3 hours and newer versions of apps were struggling on the pokey hardware. The cracked screen didn’t even matter too much to me, but when both cameras died it was finally time. I still have it, occasionally pop out out to be a lil cat TV.

Maybe not, but I can tell them to stfu and laugh at their broken feels. But I’d do that for Christianity too, as they’re probably the worst 2 religions on the planet by far in terms of how much suffering they’ve caused.

I love it when they suffer something that really isn’t bad in the scheme of things but only because it’s bad by their rules.

Younger me, working in a warehouse job came across one that I found hilarious.

And what was it called? It was a “gaylord”.

I thought for sure that they were pushing me as the new guy, but everyone I came across used the term so naturally and consistently. Even when I worked at a separate site for a while, everyone there used it too. I never looked into it farther, but I eventually accepted it.

I don’t remember if I ever did it with a straight face, but that’s what I called them.

We need laws that make it illegal to actually be a Nazi (and to codify supporting Nazis as criteria of being one).

If you have a provable track record of doing things that are textbook Nazi, that should either be a capital crime, or loss of basic rights (aka, people can assault you at any time with no repercussions).

That is a very specific thing that is honestly weird there isn’t a law about. There isn’t a single good thing to say about any of them. They’re never beneficial to anyone in any way beyond furthering their cause, and there’s nothing positive to say about that cause.
