And a washing machine is still a washing machine, smart features or not. Every washing machine is going to have a controller board that can break.

Nothing else you mentioned matters. I provided you a link to a Samsung phone under the specified price, as requested. The rest of your comment was useless pedantry.
Yes it does
I don’t know the current exchange rate, but I feel like $599 is significantly more than <100€
Yes, that’s what they said.

If you pull the instructions for your thermostat, the wiring guide should tell you what each wire is for (because you can’t trust wire colors). From there it’s just wiring up the relays properly, getting the config built in esphome, and setting up a generic thermostat.
It sounds kinda daunting, but it’s really not super complex. The only gotchas too look out for are any of the relays that can’t be on when another relay is on. There’s a way to prevent that in esphome. I’m sure someone has made a guide on it by now. I would have made one if I had gotten my enclosure figured out before my 3D printer took a hiatus.

Neither does a smart washing machine.
Right, the max instantaneous load is the max load I was speaking of.
You just have to use an outlet rated for the max load.
As far as the esp chip goes, I was meaning more along the lines of using a sensor of some sort.
I have one of the sprayer handle bidets, and I will often rinse off my balls and taint first. That way they can dry while I take a shit.
Or just a smart outlet that can track power consumption. Plenty of options that work locally with HA.
But I’d definitely fire up the 3D printer and grab an ESP chip if I was doing this at home.
You can get smart couches right now.

I have a few injuries (torn labrum in both shoulders and torn meniscus) and I’ve been able to modify things so I don’t exasperate them.
I know, I was being sardonic. It’s insane to suggest that a $600+ phone is a budget option.
