That’s indeed one of the strip templates that renders Garfield almost unreadable to me. One character’s completely absorbed in laziness, jadedness and aloofness, and one character is completely, inanely over the top as a counterpoint. That generally doesn’t entertain me, and I can’t relate to them, but then that’s just me.

Heh, that’s a pretty thin premise, mate, altho I don’t doubt that things didn’t proceed exactly as I described, from my amateur POV.
In fact, things rarely if ever equal their prediction models. Still, we investigate these things by the power of known facts & reality.

As I understand it, unlike famous stone-builders to the North and West, these peoples built with wood, which when not maintained, would have disappeared in only a few years.
Another point is that civilisation is in many ways an extension of mass agriculture, which would presumably have been the case here. Meaning, I expect that these peoples cleared a lot of land at one time, which was later recovered by the Amazon jungles.
I believe they make that sound out of both excitement and frustration. And yes, they very much want to catch and kill.
I love cats, but they’ve been pretty terrible for the environment at times. They’re too efficient as little murder machines.

Side note: I just made a pleasant discovery just now. It turns out the local super happened to have Ezekiel bread tucked away in one of their freezer cases. I’d heard about this stuff and thought I’d have to go to the bigger, more distant super to find it. Bought some provolone and plan to make open-face melted cheese sandwiches with it. Will post here if it turns out okay.
