The latter three (~さん・様・先生) aren’t really pronouns, though. Sensei can technically function as such when we already know which one is being discussed, but you would never use the other two on their own. These are titles/honorifics.

彼・彼女 are pronounce. We also have others こいつ・あいつ・and basically whateverqualifier人 (あの人・その人).

Thanks for the link. I don’t think I much like it, but I have considered getting a decent-enough camera and building a jig to take digital photos of all my old pictures. I’m not sure if that would wind up being any better than a scanner. A scanner at least controls for lighting very well.

My grandmother started throwing away photos of people she no longer recognized as dementia set in. No one was aware of this until it was way too late.

I don’t have many pictures from my childhood. My grandparents took a couple of videos, but I doubt those VHS tapes survive.

One part of my wife’s family lost basically everything in a tsunami. They managed to find two mostly-recognizable pictures, so even a box meant to be passed down isn’t going to survive disaster.

I have a box of photos to scan, but I’ve never managed to get the scanner settings dialed in to where things look right to me and aren’t gigantic files. I suppose it’s OK, though; my family line dies with me so there’s no one on to whom to pass them anyway.

Probably tons of seeds for the one on the right didn’t sprout. This one did in a favorable area and survived to this stage. This probably means that soil chemistry, light, and water are at good levels.

The one on the left was put there regardless of what it wanted and regardless of conditions. This means it’s going to need to have the soil chemistry, water, and sun exposure adjusted to its needs instead requiring work on the part of the human (if the task is even possible).

If you don’t know how many calories you’re consuming, how do you know what to change? It also adds a mild bit of friction and makes one think more before consuming, which is not a bad thing. If you mostly eat processed stuff, many apps have a barcode scanner that, in many countries, already has all the info input by someone.
