Yeah so my question could be rephrased as “why can’t my car be updated to handle android auto wirelessly if all the necessary gear is already there?”. Well, turns out some of the gear might be missing after all.

It does have wifi connectivity and even has its own SIM card. Apparently it’s a connection speed thing. Sucks, I hoped it’s a software problem with a solution :(

No matter what BMW tries to tell you in their press releases, they were never considered a luxury brand in Europe. As for German cars it goes more or less like this: Maybach >>>>>>> Porsche >>> Audi > Mercedes >>>>>>>>>>>> BMW > Volkswagen > Opel.

It has everything to do with it. I live in a country that made greenwashing a lifestyle: Finland. Every shop around here advertises how responsible they are with their business. Meanwhile, the quality is often worse than that of brands derided as “fast fashion”. Marimekko* made national headlines some time ago when they licensed a pattern to IKEA, and the IKEA product turned out to be much better quality for a fraction of the price.

It’s very important to target fast and ultrafast fashion, and I’m glad France starts with influencers. The next step should be quality norms. Otherwise, you’re just pricing poor people out, while consumer behaviours and environmental impact stay the same, and owners of established brands get exponentially richer.

*If you don’t know Marimekko, suffice to say I saw Marimekko knockoffs in boutiques in France last week.

Have you considered that the friends might be insincere about their own frequency too? In many societies masturbation is considered shameful. Even when people admit they do it, they might not want you to think they do it “too much”.

If you suspect you might have sleep apnea, you should first see a doctor. I see you use €, so there’s a chance you won’t need to pay to use a machine - you might get one from your health care operator for free.

For example: my family member in Finland got a diagnosis, and with it he got issued a machine, on the condition that he uses it on most nights. The machine is internet connected. Once a year a doctor makes a remote check-up: they look through the data collected by the machine to see if it works well for you (effective air pressure, persistent obstructions etc.). If you use the machine on most nights (at least 70% of the year), you get to keep it for another year. You also get a new mask, hose and air filter once a year for free.

I hope you can have a similar experience in your home country.

(Forgot to add: I have no idea what the “good enough” CPAP machine costs, it might have to do with the necessary air pressure or other factors i know nothing about. You really should ask your doctor first)

It’s a machine that supports your breathing while you sleep. If you have sleep apnea, you will stop breathing multiple times during the night, which will prevent you from properly resting. CPAP machine connects to a mask on your face and produces a slightly elevated air pressure, which forces air into your lungs.

If they were introducing some groundbreaking tech I could agree, but they’re using premade components to make their own version of an existing product. And sure, it’s cheaper to manufacture at scale but 5x the going price is way too much. For comparison, Nothing Phone launched 4 years ago at $400. By that logic it should’ve cost ~$1500.

If there were a way that you could have 50% more attention for your kids, yourself, and the people around you, how much would that be worth for you? How much is your attention worth?

Following this logic they could just as well stick a $50 000 price tag in it. It still wouldn’t be defensible.

Manufacturing a phone in small numbers is not cheap

Sure, but is it so much more expensive than manufacturing a HMD 2660, which does more or less the same things and retails for approx. $100?

Let’s be for real, the whole Commodore thing nowadays is milking gen X nostalgia for all it’s worth. And I don’t think it’s worth that much.
