  • Reminds me of debates I used to have (emphasis “used to”) around the death penalty, and the concept that maybe some were actually innocent.

    I found most people are in one of these two beliefs:

    1. We accept that some criminals are not caught and put to death, because we can’t risk putting to death even one innocent person by accident.
    2. We must capture every single death-worthy criminal, and therefore some innocents might be accidentally included, but at least we got all the bad ones.

    It kind of boiled down to tolerance levels. Tolerance for:

    1. Some criminals got away.
    2. Some innocents suffered.

    It used to tell me worlds about someone; what their beliefs were on this.

    I thought Brother would be better than HP. It wasn’t. I’ve had a lot of success for years with a Canon laser printer/scanner hooked up wired to my router. When I switched to Linux, it was simply detected and works with a lot of programs without even trying to install a Canon driver.
