I used to call a zebra a “pajama horse” and squirrel monkeys “fireplace monkeys”.
How do I remember this? Because my mom still likes to bring this up, every single chance she gets 🤦♀️
Scatterbrained and friendly optimist. Always happy to give my (unasked for) opinion :)
Pardon my rambling and broken English, I know I often sound like an alien trying to impersonate a human being.

It’s been popular in the Netherlands for decades under the name “Buurman en Buurman”(Neighbor and Neighbor).
I only learned now that the dubbing was something they did specifically with the Dutch release. Can’t imagine this show being silent.
My parents made me take typing lessons when I was in primary school. I had to learn on an extremely heavy electric typewriter with the keycaps taped off.
It was a lot of work but I’m still enjoying the benefits of it.
Fun little difference was that we used QWERTY, but the ‘;’ was replaced with a ‘ij’

Parasitical worms. I’d like to say why, but just thinking about it already makes me shudder.

I was in pre-school and it was my turn to clean up and sweep the floor. Instead, I put that broom between my legs and pretended to be a witch.
*sigh* Good times…
I usually buy them pre-sliced in cubes, which is what makes it so convenient as a snack. You can just pop one in your mouth while they’re still frozen, just be careful with brain freeze :)
Alternatively you put them in a small bowl and eat them with a fork after they’ve thawed.

My favorite is frozen mango. I like to eat them as a quick cold snack straight from the freezer.
Another one is raw carrots with hummus as a dip.
Good luck today! It sounds like you’ll have a busy day ahead of you. Hope you still get to enjoy today in some way though.
I’ve been off since Christmas and won’t start work until Monday. It’s coming out of my vacation days mostly, but I always end up having too many left over at the end of the year anyway.
My partner is also off, but they get a mandatory vacation between Christmas and new year, on top of the usual vacation days.

My surface pro from work has this, though I can’t say I’ve ever used it in all these years.

Oliebollen, and probably too many :)
Last year I had to stand in line for up to two hours to get a fresh batch on the 31st. Even appeared on local tv because of the huge line.
Not sure where and when I’m going to get this year’s batch, but I definitely don’t want to have a repeat of last year.

There’s no real consensus on it yet in Dutch, but the most common are either hen/hun or die/diens. Both are known words that can be repurposed, but both have some disadvantages when it comes to certain grammatical rules.
There’s also some initiatives on new words, but they haven’t really gotten much traction yet.
There’s a rather lengthy article here in Dutch that explains it in depth:

I can understand the complaint though.
You might not have come if you knew beforehand that it would be this busy. But now that you’re finally here, you don’t want to waste the trip and decide to make the best of it. You just grumble a little that it’s so busy.
It’s like time travel. One moment you’re here, and the next it’s an hour later and you’ve somehow arrived.
Don’t ask me what happened during that time, I wasn’t really there.
Don’t listen to him, he’s not even a spider!
Cuddling with my partner in bed. Especially early in the morning, when I give myself an extra half hour to just stay close together for a little while longer.

I wouldn’t dare to sit here as a human. I’m too big and would probably squish them all by accident.
But if I got to choose to be one, I’d go for the spiders. You get:
The rhyming style sounds so much like the Gruffalo :)
There’s plenty of movies that I like to rewatch, and most have been mentioned here already.
But the first movie I remember rewatching over and over again when I was little, was Labyrinth.
Funny enough I haven’t seen it in more than thirty years. It’s mostly nostalgia vibes by now, but I remember being in love with that movie back then.
