I mean… people treat badly everything that is theirs only for a time. Renters and their flats, leasers and their cars, politicians and their countries, borrowers and the tools, leaseholders and the fields…

6·23 hours agoThere is a joke in my country that even apocalypse will come to us with 30 year delay.
No, impossible! They are not white enough for that! /s

12·1 day agoI will add this to the list of reasons I’m happy not to live in the USA, as soon as I manage to add new page to it.
Japanese react to imposing of our morals on them like westerners would react to criminalization of drinking alcohol. I wonder how strange and abhorrent elements of our culture must look to them.
Then again, I consider french to be weird and borderline pro-crime for prohibiting the paternity tests…
Poor people shouldn’t segregate trash, shouldn’t collect bottles etc.
Instead cheapest products should be biodegradable, wrapped in something that can’t last shit, transported only by ships and trains. It’s the companies who profit from selling products that should be held responsible for the product eco footprint.

192·2 days agoNothing in USA rewards intelligence. Not education system, not employers, not government. Why develop a skill that isn’t in demand? Would you want to develop medieval brickmaking just because some researcher is measuring for it?
And AI would hand you a salad calling it a pizza.

1·4 days agoHonestly I liked your responses and nitpicked to hear more of it, but now I see how mistaken I was.
To think I wasted so much time talking to particularly dumb bot.

1·5 days agothey are stupid, dumb animals that must be corralled like sheep toward the future
Hm, this is what Nazis and Communists both said about my countrymen. The idea that fearing change is anti-intellectual… hmm… anti-abortion laws are changes too, introducing mass surveillance is also a change. Not every change is as good as you imply.
This is a perfectly valid opinion. Not all tattoos are good. I’d say you wouldn’t be welcome in my town (people here seem to at least don’t mind tattoos), but putting that aside - it’s a perfect fit for this place: a valid but unpopular opinion.

1·5 days agoThe only problem I see with your explanation is that it seems to boil down to defeatism:
- emotional people are more numerous than rational people
- emotional people cannot be convinced, any argument will get shot down
- politicians in any democratic society will follow majority opinion
So… why bother? It’s a fight minority cannot win and majority does not consider to be worthwhile or even real.
Also - I honestly hate the american meaning of word “conservative”. Conservative should be someone who wants the law of his country to stay as it is, not be changed. Republicans are not conservatives, they are radicals. Conservative is someone who responds to idea like for example “gay marriage” with logic “if this was legal when I was a kid, it should be legal now and in the future”.
In my country when you say “organization of pedophiles” we either think Catholics or Americans…

51·6 days agoThis is why it’s frustrating. It’s not a lie, it’s not wrong, it just fuels anti-climate-change crowd.
During last 30 days my region had:
- above 30C
- below 20C
- thunderstorms
- strong winds
But because it’s summer, the “below 20C” is the one people usually focus on. “If there is global warming, how come summers are colder?”
In fact ever since COVID my region had much colder summers…

215·6 days agoWhoever called it a “climate warming” should be shot in the head. Because yes, yes it is warming in general, but the choice to call it that was terrible. It’s summer, temperature is below 20C today, my neighbors are saying “where the fuck is climate warming? those idiots said it will be hot!”
It should be called climate destabilization, focusing not on hot/cold but on extreme weather.
