61·7 months agoThat’s the correct strategy. Populism must be fought with populism. Fully fleshed out logical arguments don’t work on people that fall for “Biden did that”.
They’re cheap to make and easy to play. They’re an excellent instrument to start with because you don’t need to know any technique to make a proper sound.

Mildly Infuriating@lemmy.world•Public transit in Toronto, Canada 🇨🇦 vs Chengdu, China 🇨🇳 English
71·7 months agoChina was invaded by Japan before WW2. Look up the Rape of Nanking if you want specifics. Once WW2 ended China had a civil war. The CCP managed to win and Mao Zedong ascended to power. He led the Cultural Revolution which basically eliminated the old ways of China to pave the way, over the bodies of millions of people, for modern China.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•how many people came to this platform due to leaving / being banned from Reddit?English
2·7 months agoI got banned too many times for telling people to punch Nazis. Eventually I was permad. Haven’t really tried to circumvent it much because why would I want to use a platform that vehemently protects Nazis?

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Have you noticed more "content creators" using ai as a sourceEnglish
12·7 months agoThere’s also a compounding problem right? Like if people take AI as a source and make content with it, that content will be rescraped for AI data sets thereby reaffirming information that may be false.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•I just spent four months in hospital in the UK. How screwed (financially) would I be in the US?English
15·7 months agoAccording to https://nchstats.com/average-cost-of-hospital-stays-in-us/ the average cost for inpatient care in the United States is 3,025 dollars.
4 months of 30 days multiplied by 3,025 is equal to 363,000 dollars without insurance.
That is an entirely believable number to me.
