Yeah honestly this has been one of my takeaways too, after hearing about these awful things a while back.
You never know what’s going on in the life of a stranger on the other end of a phone call, so respect and politeness is the best we can offer.

Covid is the reason, FYI.
But it’s of course way more complicated than just that, as they go into in the article.
They’re both really really close to perfect, and any native speaker would understand exactly what you’re saying with no problem, but I’d say them like this:
“I won’t be at my computer much today, I have to be somewhere.”
and
“It’s incredible how time flies! It will be Christmas soon!”
I feel you. It’s very expensive to be poor.
Yesss I’m all for this. I’m a reluctant iPhone and Apple TV user. I hate my iPhone, but I hate it slightly less than all the various androids I’ve had over the years. I’d love a place to vent.
Pooh is always half-stripped, so this counts in my book.
Yeah this is why I’ve stopped using Craig’s List. Most of the listings, last time I was looking, were scams. I lost a few ”application fees” and was always ghosted. I’ll never again respond to an ad that has any fees whatsoever until I can see with my own eyes that the property is real. Hunting for a place to live sucks so much.
I, as a random Jew, am not responsible for the actions of the Jewish terrorists in Israel, or any other Jew for that matter. Just like a random Muslim isn’t responsible for the actions of Hamas. It’s pretty insulting to suggest otherwise.
The other day I thought to myself, “huh I’ve got a few extra bucks, I think I’ll buy a switch 2.” Then I saw that zelda costs $80. So nope, no switch for me.
I’m someone who has never played a switch, never held one, and I was about to impulse buy it. So I’d be a brand new customer (my last Nintendo product was the NES), and now I won’t be. Their loss.
Yep, same here.
Soldiers take an oath to the constitution, not the president, so all members of the military have the right, and in some cases have the duty, to refuse illegal orders. Source.
These immigration raids and terror tactics are terrible on their own, but it’s especially absurd when Native Americans get caught up in it, and it just fully exposes how disingenuous and transparently racist the whole effort is. So I’m sorry that your peoples have to suffer even more because of this racist mindset.
From a January article:
”If you can’t say, ‘we’ve been here for time immemorial,’ then you’re an immigrant. You’re not from here, so who are you to classify our Indigenous people? These lands have been a melting pot for many ethnicities,” Hatathlie [a Native Arizona state Senator] said.
I heard another more recent example of a car full of Native Americans being pulled over, aggressively questioned, and asked for their papers, but I can’t seem to find it. It’s utterly shameful how we treat people.
I agree with every part of this.
A while back I was standing in the butter section, waiting for a couple to move so I could grab my pricey-but-worth-it butter, and overheard them talking about how butter is a scam and it all tastes the same no matter what. I had to hold back a chuckle. They of course grabbed the cheapest option and went about their lives in complete ignorance of the glory of high quality butter.
I still wonder if I should have said something to encourage them to try a better butter, but they talked about it with such blind confidence that I didn’t feel right about it at the time.
Yeah, exactly. It seemed important to them to stress that Ahsoka’s training was different from a normal padawan’s, thanks to Anakin.
That’s “Practice Makes Perfect.” Episode 5 of Star Wars: Tales of the Jedi. It’s a miniseries that came out a couple years after Clone Wars ended.
It must be pretty intimidating for these fools to have to contend with a sane, principled, Jewish, Mexican woman. They don’t like any of those attributes.
I have two of the same pair of glasses, one with normal clear prescription lenses, and the other with prescription lenses that are tinted brown and polarized. I often forget to switch them out because the sunglasses make everything look so damn good, but I carry them both with me and usually switch to my clear glasses if I’m indoors for more than a minute. But if I pop into a gas station or something for 30 seconds then I’m definitely not taking them off.
DNC chair Ken Martin said that the controversy surrounding Hogg “destroyed any chance I have to show the leadership that I need to.”
Uhh then I think he needs to look up the word “leadership” in a dictionary. Good leaders don’t usually blame their subordinates for their own deficiencies. Hogg isn’t doing anything that would prevent Martin from growing a backbone and actually leading the party.
Blaming Hogg for Martin’s shitty instincts is childish and transparently ineffective. I was always against Martin as chair, and he continues to make all the mistake we knew he would make.
I’ve found this is exactly the best way to enjoy Lemmy.
No Mans Sky is totally a time guzzler. It’s incredible how easy it is for hours and hours to go by like it’s nothing. It’s a really fun game though, and I’ve sunk hundreds of hours into it.
I did one playthrough shortly after it came out doing things the way you’re supposed to, and then I decided to just have fun with it and started using a save editor to give myself all the resources that take ages to farm or craft. That was a game changer. It’s so much more fun when I can just explore and build without having to worry about not having enough fuel for my jetpack, or not being able to finish a building because I don’t have enough resources for that one last piece of glass, or having to salvage a fuckton of ships just to open up inventory slots.
So if the game ever starts to feel like work for you, I suggest using a save editor and going to town. The devs don’t seem to have much of a problem with it, and it really opens up the game.
