This is inspired by one of my favorite characters when I played Rifts as a kid. She was an Atlantian Technowizard who fought against the brain tentacle things and slavers of Atlantis.
The advice y’all gave on the egg thing helped me want to do a piece without line art. Freaked me out and I stressed way too much. I don’t think the character fits with the background quite enough and would like advice there, and any other critiques you may have.
Now that I’ve published it I can quit stressing over it!
I think the background choice is fine, it’s not like she has to ditch the tech because she left the city or anything. Just going a stroll, watching for bears.
I like the piece! I never heard of that game though. Sounds fun!
It’s a pen and paper game like D&D. It’s height in popularity was a few decades ago. It’s so around but the maker did a good job killing the community by being a dick.
I still like it and want to play a video game based in it but that’ll never happen.
Looking great, love the way you did the lightning! Also it’s awesome to see you exploring new styles and techniques! :)
As for the background… hmm. I can think of only two things and these are nitpicky because I think you did an awesome job on it: (1) I feel like the tall tree in the fore/midground is disrupting the overall composition with its verticality. Maybe if it were cut down / broken / tilted or something? (2) Maybe set a filter layer on the background and try a bit of hue shifting. Sometimes when I’m not happy with a background I try to change the hue a bit (or drastically) to see if that changes anything to the better. It’s not worldchanging but a quick and easy trick that can make quite a difference.
I appreciate that, thank you! I’ve done whole image filters to help but never just the background. I’ll give that a go next time.
